Description

The complex of the Foregate of Długa Street consists of the Gothic-Renaissance buildings of the Prison Tower and the Torture Chamber. In the past, criminals were convicted and imprisoned here. Now two exhibitions are being shown in historic interiors: "Gdańsk more beautiful than ever" - about the reconstruction of Gdańsk destroyed in 1945 (Prison Tower) and "From the Gate to the Museum. A short history of the Foregate Complex (Katownia). At the top of the tower there is an observation tower from which you can admire the panorama of the city.

Visiting the temporary exhibition and the Foregate Complex takes a minimum of 45 minutes.
 

Information for people with disabilities

Some of the texts were translated into Polish Sign Language. Recordings are available after scanning QR codes. Audio descriptions have been prepared for four photos. You can listen to them by scanning the QR code.

There is no elevator in the property.

The facility is not adapted to visitors in wheelchairs. Due to the historic nature of the building and its original defensive function, it was not possible to eliminate the architectural barriers.
 

Terms and conditions

To use the free entrance: 
1. Inform the staff about having a Tourist Card with the Premium Explorer Package and make it available to the staff before visiting.
2. Your Card will be verified using your mobile device.
3. After positive verification of the Card, you will be able to visit the facility free of charge.
